The Steger Wilderness Center seeks an intern for non-profit development and fundraising (“Development Intern”) working part time in the Twin Cities in March, April and May 2019 and at the Steger Wilderness Center in Ely, Minnesota, from late May through the end of August.

The Development Intern position requires principal residence in the Twin Cities to enable the Intern to be available to work in person with the Steger Wilderness Center development team.

The Development Intern will work closely with Will Steger following his return from his spring 2019 solo expedition to the Arctic Ocean.

The Development Intern will work in all aspects of non-profit fundraising and development. From the commencement of work through the end of August, the Development Intern will work principally under the direction of Steger Wilderness Center Development Coordinator, Tina Witzel. Based on the Intern’s performance through July 15, 2019, the Development Intern will be considered for the position of permanent, part-time Steger Wilderness Center Development Coordinator beginning September 1, 2019.

The ideal candidate will:
1. Be a college graduate as of Spring 2019
2. Have a substantial interest in and connection to the wilderness and the out of doors
3. Have business experience from previous summer or part time jobs.
4. Be someone who can work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while also working with initiative and independence on their individual responsibilities.
5. Have the ability to plan, coordinate and conduct fundraising and relationship-development events on behalf of the Center.
6. Have substantial computer skills, particularly with Excel, the Google Suite, and database management (Salesforce)
7. Be available to work part time (10-15 hours per week) beginning March 4 through May 24, 2019.
8. Transition to living at the Steger Wilderness Center beginning May 26, 2019, through the end of August.
